What is Live Saving Sports? Live Saving is the term used to express the skills used to save people from drowning and water accidents. While Live Saving Sports is a term coined by the Internatonal Life Saving Federation (ILS) to denote the competitive component of Life Saving. The sport is divided into two categories: Still Water and Open Water events, and involves 3 vigorous disciplines - Endurance Swim; Beach Racing and Demonstration of Rescue Technique using various craft under strong surf conditions. The sport has become a regular feature in the calendar of the Commonwealth Games, and the ILS runs a biennial series known as World Rescue. Next World Rescue will be held in February 2006 at Australia. LSSM (Life Saving Society Malaysia) also organize the annual Life Saving Sport Competition. Event included in the Still Water (Swimming Pool) are:

    - 100 m Obstacle Race (Individual)
    - 4×50m Obstacle Race (Team Event)
    - 100m Manikin Carry with Fins (Individual)
    - 50m Manikin Carry (Individual)
    - 4×25m Manikin Relay (Team Event)
    - 100m Manikin Tow with rescue tube and fins (Individual)
    - 4×50m Rescue Tube Relay (Team Event) - uses Fins and Rescue Tube
