TGIF!!, break from blogging something informative for awhile. Tired. :p Lazy to think, as I had a lot of cases to think for the solution. Sighh.. Like detective only. I felt indeed my job is more like being a detective. hahaha

Had a bad dream last night again, and this time is about death. Felt so sad in the morning. Sighh.. its about the past. Not the future. Anyway, I am not sure whether this one particular thought was in my dream or my thinking before sleep. I came to realized that living here in Singapore, I never hear even a Hen calling in the morning. Not much feeling for morning glory. All morning call was from the Can’t take my eyes off you alarm on my handphone. Sometimes, the ringtone don’t even have a chance to play yet and upon hearing the vibration sound of the phone, the alarm already switched off by my. A fast reflect huh.

Then I came to think why I trust the handphone to wake me up compare to the Alarm Clock. Alarm clock will fails you when the time comes. Why? Because when its battery life is getting weak, the clock will get slowded down especially the analog clock, and so the alarm will be late. Sometimes the clock will be faulty and when the alarm suppose to ring, it doesn’t ring, instead the clock will stuck there. I have met these problems before and because of this I was late for my last day of o’level exam. Luckily the school called me and without taking shower and anything, get dressed and race my way to the school immediately with my mountain bike. hohoo

Well, there’s nothing much to say. Just some little update. Gotta enjoy this weekend too and I am thinking of changing my fitness plan. Shall finish reading the fitness book by Vincent Ng - TEN on the ten weeks plan for an ideal body. hohoho TGIF and have a great weekend people.

Next is Nasi Antaran Dagangan - hmmm is this the name? Forgotten it as it was too long and unusual. Contained Java Fried Noodle, Peyek Crackers, Beef, Some mixed vegetables

Something new to blog about. New category: Networking and Computing. To share some technical knowledge to you all. :p Hope it is helpful and feel free to comment if anything wrong with it.

First topic to start with is how to install a router as a wireless switch.

Problems:
1. I have a wired broadband router/modem and I wanted a wireless connection at home, thus I had purchased a wireless router.
2. I am connecting to a campus LAN through its wall-socket and I want to have wireless network in my room. I have a wireless router with me.

Solution:
- Best solution is to use a dedicated wireless Access Point and connect it to the wired router or the wall-socket.
- But if you already have a wireless router, that will do as well. First, you must go through the router’s user manual for the features and how to set it up.
- If the router has the function to disable the routing, that will be perfect. Go to the configuration page of the router, and disable the Routing. For example, there is a menu like: “Mode Selection” - Enable Routing - Disable Routing. Disable the routing, and reboot the router.
- Next is, set your PC’s IP manually to be on the same as the router’s subnet and access the router configuration page again to set the wireless SSID and details if you wish so. Else, skip this step.
- For problem number 1: Connect one end of network cable to the Broadband router’s LAN port, and the other end to the wireless router’s LAN port.
- For problem number 2: Connect one end of network cable to the wall-socket and the other end to the router’s LAN port. Notice here, we are using the LAN port. Reason? We are making the router to be acting as a wireless switch. This is much simpler way.
- After connected, try to connect using your wireless laptop / PC to the wireless router. If DHCP is enabled on the source: Broadband router or the campus network, by right you will be able to obtain IP address from the source. Verify by going to Command Prompt (Start — Run — type: CMD — click OK), type ipconfig/all and ENTER. Check what IP did you get on the Wireless Ethernet Adapter Connection. IF you are getting 169.254.xxx.xxx kind of IP without default gateway, you are not getting any IP address from the source (the broadband router or the campus LAN).
- If you are not able to obtained an IP, you will have to set it all manually then. To set IP manually, go to Control Panel - Network Connections - right click on the Wireless Network and select Properties. Select “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” and click on Properties button. Instead of selecting “Automatically Obtained an IP address”, select “Use the following IP address” and type in the IP address, subnet mask, Gateway IP that your network is using. Also select: Use the following DNS IP address and enter the DNS IPs. After all done, click OK, close close and voila. You are now connected to the internet through wireless. Verify by opening a webpage.

Note: If you don’t know what is the IP address your network is using, try to connect directly to the broadband router or the campus LAN and find out what is the IP address and DNS server that you are getting by: Click Start - Run - type: cmd - OK. On command prompt, enter: ipconfig/all and ENTER. Note down the IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and the DNS servers.

Another note: If you are behind a proxy, I am not sure how it goes. This has been tested without any proxy servers on the way.

If you have problem understanding the terms used, please refer to Wikipedia.

So, this is when we set the router as a wireless switch and that the router is having the function to disable routing. What if the router don’t have the feature to disable the routing? Stay tuned for the next one.

Orchard Hawker Center at night. A not so bad place for yam char in Singapore during weekend. Enjoyed two bottles of Heinneken with friends there and some local foods to go along. Open air seats and there was a football match on the big projected screen.

Oh well, weekend gonna end soon. Indeed the feel has already ends. Its Sunday night now and tomorrow will be another start for another week - the last week of September.

Saturday as usual is spent for body combat, dinner, cafe and relaxing with friends till late. Then it came to an end so fast just like that. Followed by Sunday for half day at home, go out in the afternoon for lunch, skip gym again for Sunday (it seems like I have skipped gym every Sunday for 1 month), walk around, had a hair cut - change style, drop by Coffee Bean again for the third cafe since Friday nite and finish up my Men’s Health magazine. This time I try to sit down at Coffee Bean Wheelock Place which is facing the Shaw House and the street. Quite relaxing and windy this evening, thus it is just nice for a relaxing Sunday evening enjoying Banana Malibu Dreams.

Went to Borders after Coffee Bean and got myself a fitness book from Vincent Ng - TEN. It covers the ten weeks fitness program to get a lean and sclupted body. Just curious of how they achieve it and what is lack in my progress. I did dropped more than 2 Kgs in 2 months and had some muscle grown bigger now. The last and hardest part will still be the lower body: Abs and back. These two muscles group are the least I exercise on. I should have more balanced work out. Still obsessed with Body Combat now and hoping to be able to go for the class at least 3-4 times a week; that is Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and perhaps Sunday morning. The alternate days I could use for weight training. This sounds great.

I think I must control my diet more carefully now. I did slack a lot, especially in the morning that I always had curry puff and in the afternoon - Coke. Its hard to resist having Coke especially when you are having some stress or boringness at work. I felt by drinking Coke, it is more satisfying and refreshing. Just like some people who smoke when they are bored or stress. I think I am addicted to Coke. I am limiting myself to 1 can a week now. But it still goes around 2-3 cans. Slowly I must get through this.

So, I would have a new schedule for Sunday now. Every Sunday shall be spent relaxing and reading some books or magazines. With that, I wouldn’t waste my time mostly to walking around or chit chatting the whole weekend. Perhaps I should go to gym too on Sunday morning. Its been long since I feel the real morning glory. During weekdays, I couldn’t feel the real morning as everytime I woke up and started my journey to work, its still at dark and no feeling of morning mood. Still half sleeping mood.

Some changes for good can never be too late. Shall get rid of unhealthy activities and habit. Have a relaxing last few hours of Sunday guys. And have a marvelous week ahead.
