HOHOHHO Christmas holiday has ended, and now back to work again before another long weekend for the New Year celebration.

For Christmas Eve, we had dinner at this Garuda Padang Cuisine (Nasi Padang Garuda) which has just opened few months ago here in Cairnhill Place (Orchard). They had their second branch just opened at Vivo City as well. Very classy and clean environment. I like it very much.

Garuda is a large mythical bird which is used as Indonesia’s national symbol. (see pic below)

The same meaning which is used in the national airlines company: Garuda Indonesia.
Garuda Padang Cuisine is famous in Medan and has opened few brances in Jakarta and Lampung if I was right.
So, we had a booking for 12 persons dinner at 8.00pm on 24th December 2006. Ended up 11 persons turn up and we had our special long dinner table at the one corner of the restaurant. So, its kinda a bit separated from the other guests. Perfect for a gathering.

Then, without waiting further due to our hungry stomach already calling, we ordered the foods we have been missing for quite sometime. Check out the pictures for the foods.

Ayam Pop (Butter Chicken)

Gulai Daun Ubi (Sweet Potatoes Leaves Curry)

Ayam Goreng Cabe Hijau (Green Chilli Fried Chicken)

Ayam Kampung Panggang (Grilled Rural Chicken)

Rendang Daging Sapi (Beef Rendang)

Sambal Udang Petai (Parkia speciosa With Prawn in Sambal)
Here are some takes on the interior design. Love it.

We dine from 8.00pm - 10.00pm and some of us had 3 - 4 servings of rice. Typical eating habit when we are having Nasi Padang. Best if we could have it by using hand, but due to the restaurant type, we did not do that. :p
Price we pay per person about SGD 22. Total for 6 persons: SGD 133.50 + 5 persons: 70++ = SGD 200 for 11 person
Summary: Good for Singapore Nasi Padang standard. Perhaps the best in Singapore. Taste was fine, beat all the Nasi Padang on the food courts. Plus, we are so damn hungry, that we just eat all of it without knowing we have had few plates of rice. :p
Location:
Cairnhill Place 02-01 (Ground Level)
15 Cairnhill Road (S)229650
Opening Hours : Daily: 11.30am - 3pm, 6 - 10.30pm
Telephone : 67354111
Reservations available.
How to get there? Go to Paragon, and walk to the Coffee Bean at the side, from there, walk to the Paragon’s Taxi Stand, and face across the road. You will see the white building. Walk cross the road and walk all the way down passing by the Mosque and you will reached the restaurant.
Will definitely go there again if there are any celebrations or big gathering dinner. Perfect place and really nice.
After dinner, we went out near Paragon and took some group pictures since I did prepared my tripod. Nice spot. On the other side of the road (The Orchard Road), it was fully packed of people and from far away you can see those foam sprays being sprayed onto the air. Its a definite must avoid kind of area.

Merry Christmas 2006…

Yeah, perhaps because it is opened in Singapore and in the heart of the city. This place is good for some reunion or gathering. Family dinner will be great as well. :p
