Kampung houses
Something about my Hometown.
Dumai is a name of a town in Riau Province in Indonesia. The Riau province’s capital is located at Pekanbaru which is 188 KM away (4 – 5 hours ride by car). Two hours ferry ride from neighbouring country: Malacca, Malaysia.
Dumai or Riau Province is located in Sumatra Island and consists of many islands which mainly their daily activities includes fishing.

Jalan Ombak
Dumai is an ideal location for export import with the neighbouring country like Malaysia near to it. It took about 2 hours longest to reach Malacca, Malaysia by ferry. That is probably one of the reason that most of us visit Malacca first than any other state in Malaysia.
Dumai is also known for the oil mining town, with three famous oil company around, such as PT CPI (Chevron Pacific Indonesia), PT. Pertamina and palm oil company: PT. BKR (Bukit Kapur Reksa).

[...] A Bright Afternoon on the Sea 24 10 2007 Last week, I went back to my hometown – Dumai. This time around, I took an alternative route, that is by sea in whole. During the journey, I saw a nice view from the window, so I took out my Ixus and snap around. It is just right when I were about to reach Dumai. [...]

Can I ask if Dumai have any golf courses? We heard of the golf courses but don’t know if it is true. Also are you still living there?
April 3rd, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Yes there is. It is owned under PT Pertamina (Indonesia’s national petroleum company). Yes.
April 4th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
Is it open to public? I will be going there on 14th till 17th… How do I get there? Thanks thanks…
KC
April 6th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
Hi Alfred,
I don’t think it is open to public, but you can try to contact Pertamina’s office to find out further. We have another golf course owned by Chevron. To get to Dumai is via Malacca by ferry. To go to the Golf Course, you can rent a car from the hotel or get a motorcyclist service which we called “ojek” here.
April 7th, 2009 at 9:15 am
Thanks surfnux,
no worries about getting there… I have already made arrangements to get there and will reach on the 14th.
Will you be around in Dumai from 14th to 16th? Hope to bump into you…
