Franchising and Licensing Asia 2007 is an exibition on Franchising and Licensing businesses and concepts across Asia region. As quoted from the description of the event: “The International Event for Entrepreneurship, Business Opportunities & Intellectual Property Rights in Asia.” Held from 20-22 September 2007. So, its already ended last Saturday. Some write ups on this event below.

It is meant for entrepreneurs, new comers who are looking for business opportunities, or existing players in the industries and anyone who are intersted.

Acting as a new comer, I visited this event on the day I am free. Its free admittance, but with registration of course.

I registered as individual, without any company in reference.

Apparently, there isn’t much visitors on that day I visited. Some of the booths are empty un-manned. Some exibitors are too busy chatting themselves, and not bothering much on the visitors. Well, perhaps they are busy in a meeting or something else. Some are quite informative and willing to provide as much details as they could to introduce their concepts, their businesses. I am very amazed with some of course and I do find this event really helpful and informative, especially for new comers like me.

From what I observed, the first thing they will look at you is your name tag. :)

Well, I might not be a real entrepreneur yet, but I need to make some move at least am I?

Out of my expectation, some major players Franchising industry are not there as what I expected or could imagine on. But it is a good event a least, that some of us could get benefit from.

The first booth I dropped by was ILP (International Language Programme) - an Indonesian based International Language center franchiser, which delivers language services. From my conversation with the exhibitor, they are dealing with English and Mandarin as a start. Soon, mandarin will be featured in most of their branches/franchisees. Perhaps they are one of the big player in Indonesia’s market as their name has been heard in many medias before. Perhaps, you can check out from their website at www.ilpworld.com on the language programmes they offerred and on their franchise information.

Apart from language, there are many other franchisers in children education, pre-schools, IT for Kids and many more.

On the Foods & Beverages side, major players like Subway, O’Brien’s sandwich, Papa Ron’s, Gloria Jean’s coffe and many others were there.

I can say, that almost any industry is featured in this event. Hoping to look forward with more IT businesses in the future events. One that caught my attention is InkE - a Singapore’s based company, which specializes on inkjet cartridge refill business. Interesting concept, with acceptable starting amount. Interesting more is the machine they used, which is self-manufactured.

What’s more? Check out FLAsia web at www.franchiselicenseasia.com

I think, that will be it. Will look forward for more events like this, preferably available on weekend as well. Good job to BizLinks for organizing this event and FLA (Franchise and Licensing Association) of Singapore as the presentor. Really beneficial.
