New indulgence in hawker food in Singapore. Found this at Food Republic Suntec Convention center. And just found out it is also available at Food Republic Vivo City.

The toppings

My favourite is Thunder Tea Brown Rice.

I have had this for the third time, and only took this picture on my third. Its hard to find hawker centers selling brown rice for a healthier option lately, but thanks to this Thunder Tea Rice shop.

The Green Tea

The first time I ordered this and walk around from the stall to my seat, everyone was wondering what food I had there. And even some people came and ask me what is that and where to get it from.

The basil leaves omelette and fried toufu

Well, from a quick glance, it seems interesting. It has many varieties of vegetables and covered on top of brown rice. There are anchovies and peanut as well. The brown rice ain’t that much though for the standard set. You could add SGD 1 more for bigger portion. The rice is accompanied with a bowl of green tea which I believe is mixed with some spices. It taste really weird.

The Sambal

Out of all, this meal is really filling you up, as it is packed with lots of fibre. To add it up, add on SGD 2 for a basil leaves omelette and fried toufu. More protein gain there.

Definitely a healthy choice. I wish most hawker centers or food courts have at least one stall serving brown rice for the alternative and served more protein and fibre rich foods.

After mixed up

Price for a bowl of Tunder Tea brown rice is SGD 4.50. For a set with Basil omelette and fried toufu, it cost SGD 6.50. Slightly more expensive than standard hawker center food and looking at its ingredients which has no meat, this could be one expensive food, but its worth it for the healthy option.

Go and try it out at your nearest Food Republic and feel it yourself. Its really nice.
