Last week, I went back to my hometown - Dumai. This time around, I took an alternative route, that is by sea in whole. During the journey, I saw a nice view from the window, so I took out my Ixus and snap around. It is just right when I were about to reach Dumai.

I have to travel from Singapore to Batam after work and from Batam to Dumai the next morning.
Journey from Batam to Dumai took approximately 6 hours with stops at few islands to pick up and drop passengers. Islands they stopped at were: Tanjung Balai Karimun, Selat Panjang and Bengkalis.
View of the oil plant when about to reach Dumai town. Notice the oil plant further away.
It was a tiring and boring journey. I watched about 4 movies and the journey still not end. Look at how bright the sun is shining in that afternoon. You can imagine how hot it is in Dumai at that time.
This is the oil plant located on an island slightly further away from Dumai.
But it was fun to be able to enjoy the view of the sea and take a look at those islands that the ferry is stopping at. I was starving for food halfway through the journey. Having not much choice than to eat another cup of instant noodle, I decided to had chocolate instead.
Too much instant noodle is not good.

So, the journey I took was from 9.00am in the morning and I reached about 3.00pm in the evening. Despite the tiring journey, it was worth while that I could finally reached my hometown after being away for more than 6 months. It is nice to see that town again, it is nice to meet my family again, and of course my loved one.
Perhaps this route is better than taking the Singapore-Malacca-Dumai route.
