This seat is Taken. That is what written on the cover of this tissue paper issued for free around Raffles Place during lunch hour. This ads might be too late to be shared, well, I think it is about 2 months ago.

As of the tradition around hawker centers in Singapore, especially during lunch hours around packed office centers, people tend to book their tables by using any form of materials. The most common is tissue paper. So, if you saw a tissue paper put on a table and has no one sitting on it, and its a lunch hour with lots of people around queueing, its 100% sure that the seat is taken.

The people putting the tissue paper on the table were probably still queueing for their foods from the hawker stalls with their friend.
Other than tissue paper, people normally put umbrella, book, or anything that they have currently. Even in some ads I’ve seen, they use their belt due to no other things that can be use.
So what’s this free tissue about? Its actually an creative advertisement by Zuji to promote their tour and travel packages.
Credits to Mossie for lending me the tissue for some shots.
