Nasi Padang Simpang Raya which is located just beside St. Marie’s high school in Pekanbaru, Riau, has been around for very long time. And it used to be a famous nasi padang restaurant, with their signature dish of Ayam Pop. They have two types of Ayam Pop, one which is cooked with margarine, and another one is deep fried.
Lately, with more and more great nasi padang restaurant that opened in Pekanbaru, it has lost its popularity. But it can still survive the market though, as some people will change taste from time to time by going from one Nasi Padang’s restaurant to another. 
As for Nasi Padang’s tradition, the dishes will be served on the table by plate, normally each plate will have two quantity of particular dish. Let me share with you some of the nice dishes that we had:
Sambal Fried Chicken
As for the common side dish in Indonesia, fried crackers are served. This one is Melinjo crackers that is poured with curry. Superb…
And coming up below are the two types of Ayam Pop. Do you feel like catching them right now? Majority of restaurants in Riau province are Nasi Padang, apart from the restaurants in Mall and some others.
