Lotek, is one of traditional food in Indonesia, that has steamed yellow noodle, steamed potatoes, fried vegetables, cabbage, and covered with thick peanut sauce.
To add in more taste, people usually add on minced green chilli (chili padi).
It is almost like Gado-Gado, but Lotek has noodle in it. That’s the difference.
Anyway, planning to go to Singapore soon. Perhaps for a weekend only. Just have to settle some stuffs there, and back again to finish up my preparation for the new-coming business.
Yayy!!!

Another great Indonesian food in Pekanbaru, particularly at Jalan Sekolah in Rumbai. This place, if you come after 12.00pm or 1.00pm, one thing that is sure finish is the Gulai Bauang. It might be quite far from Pekanbaru, but the journey worth the food.
The restaurant is like the many other wooden house kind of restaurant, and not that classy if I can say. Its just like the normal neighborhood restaurant. But, the food is awesome. Price wise, affordable.
First, let me show you the nice Gulai Bauang…
Next are two different fried fish, both are really crispy and can be eaten as a whole.

One of my most favorite food when I came to Pekanbaru, is the Nasi Uduk by the road side. There are plenty of Nasi Uduk’s stalls you can choose, but only some are really great and might suit your taste.
Nasi uduk is similar to nasi lemak, that it is cooked in fragrant coconut milk and other herbs. It is really nice taste, and has a great smell.
When talking about nasi uduk, you have it with fried chicken or fried catfish with the nice sambal, vegetables, bean curd and tempe (fermented soy bean).
First, let me show you the typical road side hawker look-a-like. Its common here, and they are not only nice, but they are cheap too. That is if you put aside the hygienic of everything.

Teng Teng is a name used to represent Fruit Rojaks. As usual, your choices of fruits will be cut into small pieces and served with a side dish of the rojak paste.

The Rojak’s paste with a mix of ground peanuts
The favorite fruit that we choose here is Ciku / Sawo / Sapodilla fruit. Its really sweet and watery fruit.

The only fruit…
Apart from Ciku, there are many other fruits that you can choose though, like pineapple, apple, guava and many more.
How it looked like after you mixed with the rojak paste? Continue reading »

Visit to Pekanbaru can never be complete without trying out this restaurant out. Pondok Gurih. Its sheltered under a large traditional wooden house, with natural looking surroundings. Very cooling and green feel.
Pondok is a shelter place, and Gurih is Crispy. So, it would mean that a comfy restaurant that served crispy foods.
There was a gong right on the entrance, thus for every customers that came, they will sound the gong as the symbol of welcome.
Favourite foods here were BBQ fish, which we choose to have Gurame. Gepuk upi, which is cassava’s leaves. And the others were satay and fried fish.
